Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant (MA/CMA/RMA) is a casual position supporting pediatric specialty clinics at our St. Paul location. Clinic hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with some flexibility required.

The LPN role involves providing family-centered nursing care, advising on health maintenance and disease prevention, and assisting with navigation of healthcare systems, tailored to the patient's developmental, cultural, emotional, and medical needs. Duties are aligned with the Minnesota Board of Nursing and the Nurse Practice Act, requiring teamwork, effective communication, and coordination across departments.

The Medical Assistant (MA/CMA/RMA) position supports patient care and clinic operations through clinical and administrative duties, with responsibilities defined by the healthcare team. Emphasis is on teamwork, communication, and efficient patient care organization.

The hourly wages are:

  • LPN: $24.85 - $34.48, median $29.66
  • MA: $21.00 - $29.53, median $24.61
  • Certified MA (CMA/RMA): $21.00 - $31.30, median $26.09

Pay depends on experience, education, certification, and internal equity.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Support providers during patient visits, including collecting medical history, assisting during exams, and preparing specimens.
  • Evaluate provider orders and communicate effectively for clarifications.
  • Ensure documentation accuracy and completeness in electronic medical records.
  • Maintain patient flow and clinic environment safety and cleanliness.
  • Coordinate patient care activities, including pre-visit preparations, communication, and follow-up.
Qualifications

As an LPN:

  • Current LPN license from MN Board of Nursing
  • Completion of an LPN program
  • CPR-BLS certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent (must obtain within 1 month if not already certified)
  • Interest in working with children with disabilities

As a MA/CMA/RMA:

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Current CMA or RMA certification
  • BLS certification (must obtain within 90 days if not already certified)

  • Strong customer service and medical terminology knowledge
  • Basic clinic workflow and procedure support skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new programs
