Job description

1. Education : Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing and holds a current Arkansas licensure as a licensed practical nurse.

2. Training and Experience : Individualized orientation period of no less than 2 weeks and generally no greater than 3 months.

3. Job Knowledge : Demonstrates competency and knowledge of licensed practical nursing skills to create an environment conducive to the healing process of the patient. Ability to utilize the nursing process in the provision of nursing care including but not limited to administering treatments and medication, collection of patient data relevant to the plan of care / problem list, collaborating with other healthcare providers and providing education to patients and / or significant others.

Job Description :

Under the direct supervision and delegation of the RN, the LPN is responsible for delivering patient care through the nursing process of gathering patient data for assessment, identifying nursing problems, implementing, and evaluating. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Serves as a resource nurse when oriented and directed. Supports the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Applies knowledge of patient’s age, cultural diversity, and their spiritual and emotional needs into the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.

Physical Requirements :

Maintains good physical and emotional well-being. Job responsibilities require significant physical activity. The individual must assist with lifting and moving patients, pushing carts, wheelchairs, and other equipment; and lifting or pushing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to bend over to perform duties such as checking chest tube drainage or urinary output. Must be able to maneuver throughout hospital halls, stairways, and patient rooms, especially during emergencies. Visual and auditory skills are necessary for interpreting environmental input. The role involves considerable writing and computer entry. Trips to various departments are required. The position involves exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids, and minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents. Protective gear such as gloves, masks, gowns, and goggles must be worn when handling infectious wastes and body fluids.

PRN hours vary between Day Shift (7 am to 7 pm) and Night Shift (7 pm to 7 am).
