Job summary

Washington Gastroenterology believes that digestive health is the foundation for a healthy life. We are seeking a Full Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our clinic in Bellevue, WA, providing direct patient care under physician orders and policy.

You will triage calls, prepare patients for exams, update health histories in the EMR, educate patients, assist with prescriptions, manage nursing inbox, obtain authorizations, schedule procedures, and perform phlebotomy and pre-procedure

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN nursing program.
  • Current LPN license to practice in Washington.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Clinic, hospital, or gastroenterology nursing experience preferred.
  • Medical office experience with knowledge of terminology and office protocol preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Take triage calls from patients and relay information to Providers.
  • Room and prepare patients for exams including vitals.
  • Update medications, allergies, and health history in the EMR.
  • Provide patient instruction and guidance on procedures and tests.
  • Assist with prescription refills per policy.
  • Manage nursing inbox and supply inventory.
  • Obtain insurance authorizations for prescribed medications.
  • Schedule procedures, labs, and x-ray appointments and follow-ups.
  • Interact with other offices and facilities as needed.
  • Perform phlebotomy tasks as directed.
  • Obtain pre-procedure clearances from outside providers.
  • Document all patient care encounters accurately and timely.
  • Maintain exam rooms and prepare them for the next patient.

We are WAGI

WAGI is seeking a Full Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our medical clinic. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care in the Clinical setting, in accordance with physician's orders, recognized nursing techniques, and legal aspects of current nurse practice within Washington State and the Center's policies and procedures. The Licensed Practical Nurse works as a team member under the supervision of an RN (Registered Nurse), ARNP, PA, or Physician.

Responsibilities
  • Taking triage calls from patients with concerns or complaints to intake and relay pertinent medical information regarding the patient and their symptoms, etc. to the Provider
  • Rooms and prepares the patient for exam by gathering patient vitals including weight, blood pressure, pulse rate, and respirations
  • Updates and documents patient's current medications, problem list, allergies, and health history, and relevant problems and/or complaints in the patient medical record
  • Provides instruction, education, and direction to patients on routine medical questions, procedures and ordered tests
  • Assists patients with prescription refill requests within Washington Gastroenterology policy
  • Manages nursing in-box requests and maintains the sample medication supplies and the patient care supply inventory
  • Supports administrative functions of the medical office by assisting the administrative staff when needed
  • Obtains insurance authorization for necessary medications prescribed by Washington Gastroenterology providers
  • Schedules patient procedure, lab, and x-ray appointments, as well as follow-up visits for the patient. Assures the patient is scheduled at the appropriate facility, that the patient is aware, and that the information is documented in the medical record
  • Interact with and act as liaison with other offices, hospitals, pharmacies, etc.
  • Perform phlebotomy tasks taking samples as directed
  • Obtains pre-procedure medical clearance from outside providers for patients with cardiac and other high-risk modalities
  • Documents all patient care encounters accurately, completely, and in a timely manner
  • Maintains exam rooms, cleansing between patients and restocking as needed
  • Perform phlebotomy tasks taking samples as directed
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) nursing program
  • Current LPN license to practice professional nursing in the state of Washington
  • Current BLS certification
  • Previous clinical, hospital, or gastroenterology nursing experience preferred
  • Previous experience in a medical office setting with a working knowledge of medical terminology and office protocol preferred

Physical Activities And Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • Prolonged periods of sitting/stationary work and performing administrative duties including the use of computers and phones

  • Ability to assist patients supporting weight, assisting in positioning of patients, etc.
  • Ability to grasp small objects and manipulate medical instruments
  • Ability to reach including reaching overhead and below waist
  • Ability to lift 10 pounds frequently, occasional lifting 25 pounds
  • Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • Occasional travel may be required to other local locations on an as-needed basis to back-fill for vacations, etc.
Washington Gastroenterology has an excellent compensation and benefit package that includes the following:

Employees (and their families) who work full time (defined as working 30 or more hours per week) will be eligible for medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, accidental death and dismemberment, and basic life insurance.

In addition employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401(k) plan which includes a company provided safe harbor contribution of 3% of annual earnings and the potential for a company discretionary profit sharing contribution.

All employees will be eligible to accrue PTO at a rate of .04 hours per payroll hour (1.6 hours for a 40 hour week) which can be used for and exceeds the required mandatory WA State and other local ordinances. In addition, full time employees will be eligible for a Vacation accrual with a maximum annual accrual of 77 hours as a new hire.

WAGI has 8 standard Holidays each year for which full time employees are eligible to receive paid holiday. In addition, full time employees will be given 1 Float Holiday each year that they can schedule.

A new hire full time employee in this role will be eligible for a Hiring Bonus in the amount of $3,000.

This is an Hourly position and the anticipated Compensation range is $28.00 - $36.00. The hired applicant is also eligible for annual discretionary bonuses.
