Job Summary
  1. The LPN role integrates technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet the needs of patients and families.
  2. Assists the healthcare team with prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort.
  3. Provides direction, education, and begins to assume leadership responsibilities at the unit level.
  4. Delivers and documents direct, age-specific care based on medical orders and a multidisciplinary plan of care.
  5. Safely administers prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and interactions.
Licensure, Certification, and Experience Requirements

For Hire: Licensure, certification, or registration varies depending on background and transitional assignment. Must have current LPN licensure in Virginia.

For Continued Employment: Same as above plus AHA BLS Certification or equivalent.

Experience: Varies based on transitional duty assignment; preferred experience as an LPN in acute care or relevant practice area.

Education

Graduate from a Board of Nursing approved School of Practical Nursing. No additional preferred education required.

Additional Requirements
  • Follows documented orders, standards, and practice guidelines.
  • Works all shifts, including weekends and holidays, with schedules established with the Nurse/Practice Manager.
  • Schedules may be adjusted as needed.
  • Serves age groups appropriate to the transitional duty assignment.
  • Physical demands include lifting 50-100 lbs, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, walking, climbing, reaching.
  • Requires strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, reading, and logical thinking.
  • Ability to adapt to a steady pace, frequent customer interactions, noisy environments, and frequent changes.
