Job summary

Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC, part of Lifepoint Health, is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for Behavioral Health. This full-time night-shift role covers 3x12 hour shifts, with a $7,500 commitment incentive and a supportive team focused on patient-centered care.

You’ll work under an RN, contribute to assessments, care planning, and medication administration, and coordinate with RNs, patients, and staff to ensure safe, therapeutic care in a busy behavioral health setting.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina LPN license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Handle With Care certification within 30 days of hire.
• At least 1 year of Behavioral Health experience.
• Ability to think critically and act with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Under RN supervision, participate in patient assessments and data collection.
• Document nursing observations and maintain care plans.
• Implement aspects of the nursing care plan and coordinate care.
• Administer medications and therapies per scope of practice.
• Communicate with patients and provide education as delegated by RN.
• Set up and maintain equipment and work area.
• Coordinate admissions, transfers and discharges with relevant staff.

How you'll contribute

A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who excels in this role:

• Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Makes and documents nursing observations.
• Provides input into development and maintenance of the nursing care plan.
• Implements assigned aspects of nursing care plan.
• Collaborates with RNs and Providers.
• Coordinates patient care, admissions, transfers, and discharges with patient care, service and business office personnel, as requested by RNs.
• Administers medications, treatment and therapies per scope of practice.
• Communicates with patients.
• Provides patient and/or family with instruction and education relevant to their condition, as delegated and supervised by RN.
• Set up, utilizes and/or maintains equipment, supplies and work area.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current state LPN license. High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional requirements include:

• Active North Carolina LPN license (single-state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• Handle With Care certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• At least 1 year of Behavioral Health/ Psych experience required.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
