The Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). DDD provides individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, services and supports that are flexible, high-quality, and member-driven. These services provide individuals with opportunities to exercise their rights and responsibilities of independent decision-making and engagement in the community.
Applicants for this position cannot be licensed or certified by the DDD Office of Licensing, Certification and Regulation, cannot have a principal interest in or have a spouse or close family with principal interest in a DDD Qualified Vendor Agreement, and cannot be employed or subcontracted by a DDD Qualified Vendor.
Knowledge in:
ID Client nursing theory and practice
Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID) and State Licensing requirements.
State Nurse Practice Act
Title XIX federal regulations and licensing standards
Agency and Division State-Operated Services policy and procedures
Proper nursing documentation
Member condition and medical/physical changing care needs
Medication administration practices
Skills In:
Nursing assessment (all skills allowed by scope of practice)
Providing appropriate treatment in emergency situations
Making nursing judgment and effective problem solving
Time Management & Interpersonal communication
Communicating clearly and concisely in writing and verbally
Providing formal instructions
Developing, analyzing, and implementing treatment care plans and documenting properly.
Ability to:
Listen, observe, assess, and respond to medical emergencies
Make independent decisions regarding member health concerns
Present training material in a clear and precise manner
Respond to medical issues/inquires in a professional manner
Work with professional and non-professional staff to ensure the health and safety of individuals
Work in an interdisciplinary process.
