Job summary

NaphCare, Inc. is hiring Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join our correctional healthcare team at the Montgomery County Detention Facility in Montgomery, Alabama.

We offer PRN and Full-Time Night Shift opportunities, providing flexibility or a full-time career in a fast-paced setting. As a Correctional Nurse, you will collaborate with correctional officers and a multidisciplinary team to deliver quality care in custody.

Qualifications

  • Maintain confidentiality of all information encountered.
  • Demonstrate integrity and adhere to facility policies and code of conduct.
  • Must possess active LPN license and CPR certification.
  • Pass state background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments and obtain medication history.
  • Take vital signs (BP, temperature, weight).
  • Provide wound care and bandaging as needed.
  • Administer medications and monitor reactions.
  • Maintain accurate medical records in the electronic health record (TechCare).
  • Monitor overall health and mental health status of patients.
  • Provide emergency first aid when required.
  • Assist with discharge planning and patient education.

Our Full-Time Night Shift position includes shift differential, and all positions offer the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented clinical environment.

As a Correctional Nurse, you'll work alongside correctional officers and a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide quality care to individuals in custody. Responsibilities include performing assessments, administering medications, managing chronic conditions, and responding to urgent medical needs while making a meaningful impact on a unique patient population.

Responsibilities

As an LPN, you will play a critical role in our continued mission to provide quality healthcare that protects the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Duties and responsibilities may include and not be limited to:

  • Performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, medication history
  • Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight
  • Providing wound care, including cleaning and bandaging injured areas
  • Administering medication, including injections of medications and monitoring reaction to meds
  • Maintaining medical records, including entering information into our electronic health record, TechCare
  • Observing patient health and mental health status
  • Providing emergency first aid
  • Providing patient education and discharge/release planning
Qualifications
Education / Licenses / Certifications / Requirements
  • Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Actively state-certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Possess an active CPR certification
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Experience / Skills
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
Physical Capabilities

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
