Job summary

Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville, KY is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a PRN position in the Med/Surg unit. The role supports acutely ill adults, following nursing processes and collaborating with the RN and broader care team.

The LPN will assess patients, perform care interventions, document care, assist with care planning, and help patients with daily living activities while maintaining adaptability across shifts and units.

Qualifications

• Applicants should have a current Active Kentucky LPN License (single state or compact).
• Education: Graduate of accredited LPN program
• Licenses: Current LPN license in KY
• Must pass a rhythm recognition test within 90 days of hire/transfer

Responsibilities

• Contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for RN analysis.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care; may administer medication.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with daily living activities including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient status and responses to interventions with RN/physician/patient/family.
• Advocates for the patient’s physical and emotional well-being.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed.

The Med/Surg unit provides direct patient care to acutely ill adult patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. This position coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, acts as a patient advocate and works as part of a team with ancillary and non-nursing departments.

• Documents patient care provided.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with daily living activities including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient status and responses to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and family.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
