Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, seeks Licensed Practical Nurses to provide daily care at Pee Dee Regional Center in Florence, SC. Under the supervision of a Nurse Supervisor, this position:

  • Provides daily nursing care, training, activities, andtreatment to the people who live at the Regional Centers inaccordance withall licensing andcertification requirements, the South Carolina Nursing Practice Act, and BHDD-OIDD.
  • Administersroutine oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications as well as treatments in accordance with nursing protocol, facility policies, and procedures.
  • Monitors health conditions of theindividuals andreports findings to medical provider and appropriatestaff. Assistsphysician/practitioner with examinations and treatments as needed.
  • Maintains a safe and sanitary living and working environment.
  • Ensuresaccountability and protection from harm for all individualsthroughappropriate and thorough documentation.
  • ReviewsMonthlyMedication Administration Record (MAR)and 90-day recertification orders, completes health carerecords, AIMS/DISCUS, swallowing and Speech and Occupational Medicine (SAOM) Evaluations. Assistswith weights and heights as ordered and indicated by policy and procedures. Properlydocuments as needed.
  • Performs and participates in activities as otherwise assigned by the supervisor to include, but not limited to, participation in on-call rotation procedure.

The positions for this posting are located at Pee Dee Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD located in Florence, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This position is eligible for up to$3.75/hour shift differential for applicable shifts!

Sign-on bonus for eligible candidates will be distributed after one, six, and twelve months of successful continuous Full-Time employment.

Successful completion of a registered nursing education program for professional nursing or an equivalent course of study from a registered nursing education program per Section 40-33-32 of the South Carolina Nurse Licensure Act. Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.

Knowledge of practical nursing procedures. Knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene, basic health, and safety practices. Knowledge of the human anatomy. Ability to maintain attention to detail. Ability to make accurate technical and physical observations of individuals. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain accurate medical documentation. Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations and laws. Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, and educational backgrounds. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the healthcare team. Ability to lift and move individuals. General knowledge of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Ability to work in a group home like setting or ICF. Physical ability to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile.

All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.
