The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) seeks compassionate nursing professionals for LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE I (LPN I) positions. This is an entry-level nursing opportunity for candidates interested in furthering their career and broadening their nursing experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The LPN I is the first level in the series and delivers care to individuals living in a community residential home setting. LPNs play a vital role in developing relationships and working with individuals, family members, significant others, provider agencies, and other appropriate parties to improve overall health and quality of life.
Please Note: Based on assignment, candidates may be eligible for various pay differentials.
Depending on assignment, some LPN positions may be assigned to locations that require 24/7 nursing staff. Employees in these positions must be able to perform mandatory overtime when circumstances dictate the need. This position is designated as an EMERGENCY position in the Department of Developmental Services Emergency Plan; therefore, when the Governor declares a state of emergency, you will be required to report to work.
All employees are paid on a bi‑weekly basis and must have direct deposit.
Minimum Entrance Requirements: None (see Section XIII, Special Requirements).
Special Requirements: Possession of a current and valid license as a practical nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure. For all bargaining unit positions (non‑management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Vaccination: Successful candidates will be required to acknowledge and attest to their vaccination status for both COVID‑19 and influenza.
