Job summary

The Meadows Psychiatric Center is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for full-time 7a-3:30pm shifts with rotating weekends. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

The center provides comprehensive behavioral health services on a 52-acre rural campus near State College, PA, with programs for children through adults and a range of benefits. Responsibilities include nursing care on the unit, safe medication administration, crisis response, patient education, and contributing to a safe milieu

Qualifications

• Valid Pennsylvania LPN License.
• Interest in Psychiatric Nursing.
• On-the-job training and education provided for psychiatric nursing.

Responsibilities

• Provide assigned nursing care activities on a shift basis under supervision.
• Facilitate medication administration per safe practices and educate patients.
• Respond to crisis/emergency events to ensure patient safety.
• Communicate patient treatment responses and behavioral changes to the team.
• Maintain a safe environment through rounds and milieu management.

The Meadows Psychiatric Center is a 119 bed inpatient behavioral health facility with numerous outpatient programs which span the entire continuum of care. The beautiful 52-acre rural campus is located minutes outside of State College in Central PA. The Meadows provides comprehensive care to children through adults.

LPN Role/Responsibilities:

• The Licensed Practical Nurse is accountable for assigned nursing care activities on a shift basis and is responsible for promoting and enhancing professional nursing practice on the unit under the direction of the Nurse Manager or DON.
• The Licensed Practical Nurse facilitates medication administration activities in accordance with safe medication practices , including patient education
• The Licensed Practical Nurse responds to all crisis/emergency events to direct staff and ensure patient safety
• Responsible for communicating patient treatment response, emotional and behavioral changes, milieu dynamics and other pertinent information.
• Administers medication under the supervision of Charge RN.
• Contributes to ensuring the environment is safe for both patients and staff members through the use of safety rounds, patient flows, and milieu management techniques.
