Job summary

Excelsior Orthopaedics Group Amherst, NY is seeking an experienced clinical support professional to assist providers and ensure a safe, positive patient experience. You will work on a clinical operations team, handling patient rooming, vitals, cast care, wound management, and chart updates.

The role requires NYS LPN license or ATC BOC certification, with 2+ years in a high-volume medical office preferred. Knowledge of MEDENT EMR and strong teamwork are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Valid NYS LPN license or ATC BOC certification.
• 2+ years experience in a high-volume medical office preferred.
• Experience in wound care or casting is highly preferred.
• EMR knowledge with MEDENT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clinical leadership to optimize patient flow in operations.
• Perform clinical duties in areas including Express, Cast Room, and pods.
• Apply and remove casts, sutures, staples, and braces as needed.
• Provide wound care and patient education.
• Respond to triages per standard operating procedures.
• Room patients, take vitals/history, update electronic medical charts.
• Maintain patient records with visit details, insurance, and contacts.
• Assist with post-visit paperwork, follow-up scheduling, and records requests.
• Keep exam rooms compliant with regulatory standards.
• Audit new patient charts and replenish exam/clinical supplies.
• Train others as directed and perform other duties as assigned.

This position works on a clinical operations team providing clinical support to our providers while ensuring our patients have a safe and positive experience.

Schedule

• Monday & Thursday: 7:45 AM to 9:00 PM
• Saturday: 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work closely with clinical leadership to ensure smooth patient flow in the operational areas.
• Perform clinical duties in all areas including Express, Cast Room, and pods.
• Perform clinical duties such as the application and removal of casts, sutures, staples, braces.
• Perform wound care and deliver patient education.
• Respond to triages as needed or assigned in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Room patients, take vitals and history, update electronic medical chart as needed.
• Update and maintain patient medical records, including visit details, insurance and contact information.
• Service patient after visit with appropriate paperwork, schedule follow-up appointment, send out medical records as requested, and answer any patient inquiries.
• Maintain exam rooms to appropriate regulatory standards.
• Audit new patient charts.
• Work as a team to replenish exam room and clinical supplies, including office supplies for designated area.
• Train others as needed or directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications: Requirements and Qualifications

• Valid NYS LPN License or ATC BOC certification.
• 2+ years experience in high volume medical office rooming patients preferred, but not required.
• Experience in wound care, casting highly preferred.
• EMR knowledge required, MEDENT preferred.

Physical Demands

• Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
• Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to observe and communicate with patients, providers, and staff.
• Frequent reaching, stooping, squatting, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
• Extensive standing and walking required.
• Occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Position requires full range of body motion including ability to position and move patients.
• Work environment may involve some exposure to hazards/physical risk.
