Job summary

SCA Health in Watchung, NJ is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to preoperatively coordinate patient documentation and testing for ambulatory surgery. You will work closely with physicians, nurses and office staff to ensure readiness for admission on the day of surgery.

Responsibilities include reviewing clinical data, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining clear communication with patients and families to support safe, efficient care. A valid LVN license and BLS certification are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• LVN license required.
• 1+ years’ LVN experience in a clinical setting.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain, organize, assess and coordinate each patient’s preoperative documentation and diagnostic testing prior to the patient’s surgery.
• Correlate clinical data with patient’s medical and nursing care.
• Set priorities.
• Demonstrate attention to detail and solve patient issues as they arise.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, healthcare team, physicians and nurse managers.
• Recognize legal and policy limits of practice.
• Screen patients prior to surgery as acceptable ambulatory surgery candidates.
• Work with physicians, Nurse Managers and patients to ensure readiness for admission on the day of surgery.
• Assist in PreOp and PACU as needed.
• Achieve patient outcomes through implementation of critical pathways and facility mission.
