Job summary

Novant Health in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for Med/Surg to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care to adults with medical and surgical needs. You will work with an interdisciplinary team on night shifts to support positive patient outcomes.

The role requires a Practical Nursing program graduate and an active NC LPN license. CPI certification within 3 months for Behavioral Health, and 3-month training for facility-specific interventions are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Graduate of accredited Practical Nursing Program.
  • NC LPN license required.
  • CPI certification within 3 months for Behavioral Health and facility-specific requirements within 3 months.
  • One year of relevant experience preferred.

Facility: Med/Surg | Location: Wilmington, NC, Full-Time | Work Schedule: 7 p.m. - 7 a.m.

What You'll Do
  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to adult patients with a variety of medical and surgical conditions.
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, develop individualized plans of care, and monitor patient progress.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions while assessing and responding to changes in patient condition.
  • Prioritize care and manage multiple patient needs in a fast-paced acute care environment.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and support positive patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge plans.
  • Promote a safe environment while following evidence-based practices, hospital policies, and patient safety standards.
What We're Looking For
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. Graduate of accredited Practical Nursing Program.
  • Experience: One year of relevant experience, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Appropriate state LPN license, required. NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required. CPI certification within 3 months of hire for Behavioral Health departments, required.
  • Additional Skills (required): Computer skills, Phone call etiquette and Organizational Skills. Ability to comprehend policies and procedures and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team. Behavioral Health units' requirements only. Ability to intervene in a therapeutic manner for behavior patterns demonstrated by patients with a mental illness, personality disorder, substance abuse or developmental disabilities. Knowledge of psychiatric medications, side effects and treatment interventions, knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis, mental health concepts, and evidence based therapeutic interventions and treatments. CPI certification within three months. Ability to establish and maintain control of violent patients, defend self and others against violent assaults, ability to react appropriately in psychiatric crises, ability use violent and non-violent restraints per policy and procedure.
