Valley Hope Boonville seeks a Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our addiction treatment team. Day or night shifts available; sign-on bonus of 7,500 paid over two years. You will provide nursing care, administer medications, and support detox admissions in a residential setting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care support of prescribed treatments and medication interventions as established for each patient.
• Implements nursing care in accordance with Valley Hope’s medical philosophies, policies, and procedures to ensure quality patient care.
• Administers drugs, medications, treatments, and tests as allowed by law.
• Assists with detox admissions and provides patient care support during detoxification.
• Records treatment activities and patient observations in patient records accurately and timely.
• Communicates with nursing supervisors, nursing staff, and clinical staff regarding patients’ treatment and status.
• Follows policies for medical emergencies and maintains infection control practices.
• Oversees non-licensed nursing staff as instructed by the Nursing Director.

Valley Hope of Boonville, located just outside of Columbia off I-70, provides Missouri with residential and outpatient drug and alcohol addiction treatment services.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

• Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse to practice in the state of employment.


• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification; or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Preferred:

• Associate’s degree in nursing.


• One (1) year of clinical nursing care work experience.


• Work experience in substance abuse treatment facility.

COMPENSATION:

• Starting base pay is $30 - $35/hr (based on education and experience)


• S7,500 Sign-On Bonus (paid out over a 2 year period)

Shift Differentials:

• Weekday Night: Base pay + $4.25 per hour

JOB SUMMARY:

• Provides nursing care support of prescribed treatments and medication interventions as established for each patient.


• Implements nursing care in accordance with Valley Hope’s medical philosophies, policies, and procedures as well as any other regulating bodies to ensure quality patient care.


• Administers drugs, medications, treatments, and tests as allowed by law.


• Assists with detox admissions and provides patient care support during patient detoxification process including pre-screening of patients, obtaining physical assessment data and health history, administering detox treatment plans, and monitoring of patients.


• Records treatment activities and patient observations in patient records accurately and timely; completes paperwork requirements as needed in an accurate and timely manner.


• Communicates with nursing supervisors, nursing staff, and clinical staff regarding patients’ treatment and status.


• Follows established policies and procedures for all medical emergencies (i.e., convulsions, suicides, Delirium Tremens, etc.).


• Maintains a safe and sanitary environment applying infection control techniques and universal precautions.


• Adheres to all policies and procedures regarding patient information protection and HIPPA.


• Oversees non-licensed nursing staff as instructed by and under the direction of the facility Nursing Director.


• Maintains and demonstrates a current working knowledge of applicable medical procedures and nursing care based on company policy and State and Federal guidelines.


• Completes any required continuing education credits.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Residential treatment facility setting; requires walking throughout the facility.


• Direct contact with patients.


• Able to work non-typical hours with the need to work evenings, nights, or weekends based on the need of the facility to provide patient care; able to work overtime to the extent necessary.


• Able to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time (typically no longer than 8 hours).


• Able to push, pull, pull up, bend at the knees and waist, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, turn head-neck-shoulders as needed, grasp other items with hands, for either extended periods of time or many times throughout the workday.


• Able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and able to assist an adult weighing 100-250 pounds.
