Qualifications:
- Education: Graduation from an accredited College of Practical Nursing, with a current nursing license in each state of practice.
- Experience: At least one year of full-time clinical practice in each specialty area.
- Certifications: Current BLS/CPR certification; additional specialty certifications such as PALS, ACLS, NRP, as required.

Summary of Licensed Practical Nurse Duties:
The LPN provides supplemental/contract services, working under the supervision of the RN to deliver compassionate, professional, ethical, and knowledgeable care. They observe, record, report, and assist in care planning, understanding their scope of practice. The LPN collaborates closely with RNs to ensure effective nursing processes and maintains awareness of potential hazards such as exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other hazards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform nursing duties in accordance with laws and facility policies, prioritizing patient safety and comfort.
- Provide direct patient care and report changes to the supervising RN.
- Assist healthcare professionals in patient care, providing comprehensive reports on patient status.
- Perform routine nursing care using universal precautions.
- Educate patients and families according to the care plan.
- Handle biohazardous materials following organizational policies.
- Apply nursing theory and techniques holistically, reporting changes and documenting appropriately.
- Administer prescribed medications under RN supervision, knowing medication details.
- Maintain excellent communication with staff, patients, and families.
- Engage in ongoing education to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Operate and understand all medical equipment used in patient care.
- Perform sensory assessments as needed for accurate patient evaluation.
- Follow all policies and uphold organizational standards.
- Take responsibility for assigned patients under RN supervision.
- Maintain punctuality and dependability for shifts.
