Job summary

The Villas Senior Care Community seeks an LPN to provide day-to-day resident care in our long-term care setting. You will administer medications, monitor conditions, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.

Required Illinois LPN license, graduation from an accredited nursing program, and a willingness to follow facility policies. Prior geriatric nursing experience is preferred. We offer comprehensive benefits and paid time off.

Responsibilities

• Understand and follow the Happy to Oblige (H to O) program and facility policies.
• Provide nursing care to assigned residents.

• Prepare, administer, and chart medications and treatments.
• Supervise meals and rehabilitative nursing procedures.
• Verify controlled substances inventory.
• Participate in staff meetings and consult with Wellness Director.
• Admit, discharge, and transfer patients as needed.
• Read staffing schedule to ensure proper coverage.
• Assist CNAs with patient care while maintaining a neat work environment.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

Practical Vocational Nurse in Illinois. Hold a current, active license as an LPN.

CONTINUING EDUCATION:

As required to retain license and registration.

EDUCATION:

Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

EXPERIENCE:

On-the-job training as an integral part of the licensed-training program and at least one year of experience preferred in geriatric nursing either in a nursing home or a health-care related facility.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for understanding and consistently following the principles of the Happy to Oblige (H to O) program.
• Responsible for nursing care of assigned residents in accordance with nursing facility and nursing service policies and procedures.
• Recognize changes in conditions during his/her shift and notify the attending physician and family when resident becomes ill or is injured.
• Supervise resident-care personnel on his/her shift.
• Prepare and administer medications and treatment. Chart medications and treatments according to procedure.
• Supervise serving of diets and fluid intake. Ensure rehabilitative nursing procedures are performed.
• Verify inventory of drugs covered by Controlled Substances Act of 1970.
• Participate in staff meetings.
• Consult with Wellness Director when necessary.
• Assist in interpreting goals and objectives of facility for nursing service personnel.
• Personally receive or place calls to physician. Accurately transcribe physician's orders. Order medications.
• Be sensitive to families and respond in an appropriate professional manner.
• Admit, discharge, and transfer patients from their assigned unit.
• Complete assigned monthly summaries.
• Read the staffing schedule at beginning of shift to ensure proper personnel are working their assigned group.
• Assist CNA's with patient cares whenever necessary.
• Maintain neat, orderly work environment.
• Report any repairs needed to Maintenance Department.
• Other duties as directed by the Wellness Director.
