Under limited supervision, the licensed practical/vocational nurse (LPN/LVN) is responsible for the delivery of patient care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing processes of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, and any standards, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations that govern any facility the LPN/LVN is working at.
The work environment is highly variable, as care is generally provided in private homes. Lighting, acoustics, air quality, temperature and environment hazards are not predictable. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, household pets/animals, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is required to travel frequently to complete home health visits.
