Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a licensed LVN/LPN to deliver nursing services at the Brenham State Supported Living Center. You will provide care to residents with IDD and psychiatric needs, working an 8-hour shift with a weekend rotation.

Job Description:

Education/ Certification Mandatory:

• Current, unencumbered LVN/LPN nursing license required. Candidate must be licensed and eligible to practice as an LVN/LPN in Texas.

Work Experience Mandatory:

• Experience as an LVN/LPN working with individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD), psychiatric conditions, and/or dual-diagnosis populations; ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education/Certifications Nice to Have:

• Additional nursing certifications or specialized training related to psychiatric/mental health, Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD), or dual-diagnosis care preferred.

Work Experience Nice to Have:

• Strong, competent, reliable, experienced nurse; fast learner and adaptable to changing requirements.

Roles And Responsibilities:

• Provide LVN/LPN nursing services at Brenham State Supported Living Center (SSLC) in accordance with assigned duties and facility requirements.
• Provide nursing support to individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD), psychiatric conditions, and dual-diagnosis needs.
• Work the assigned 8-hour shift, with a requirement to work approximately 3 weekends per month.
• Attend and successfully completely New Employee Orientation and Nursing Education sessions, typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, for approximately two weeks.
• Provide reliable and competent nursing support while working independently and collaboratively with the nursing and interdisciplinary teams.
• Follow established facility procedures, clinical requirements, and applicable nursing practices while supporting daily patient-care operations.
• Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing requirements, schedules, and patient-care needs.
• Maintain professional communication and effective collaboration with nursing staff, healthcare professionals, patients/residents, and other facility personnel.
• Complete required background screening and drug screening as part of the onboarding process.
• Complete required credentialing and employment requirements and be prepared to begin work promptly following an offer.
• Maintain the required LVN/LPN licensure and eligibility to provide nursing services throughout the assignment.
