The University of Virginia in Charlottesville seeks licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to provide outpatient care under the supervision of a registered nurse and under practitioner orders.
You will administer medications, monitor patients, document in the EMR, lead CNAs, and participate in immunizations and home care in a fully on-site ambulatory setting. This non-exempt role offers UVA benefits and requires Virginia licensure and BLS.
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are responsible for carrying outpatient care in accordance with licensed independent practitioner’s orders, under the guidance and direction of the registered nurse in charge. They administer ordered medications and treatments, observe and record effects of medications, and observe and report patient reactions to treatments or any unusual conditions. Work is largely routine and done according to established protocols, with some supervision.
Education: Graduated from an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse Program. Experience: No experience required. Licensure: Licensed to practice as a Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia prior to onboarding. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. May require a valid Virginia Driver's License (VADL).
Job may require standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The anticipated hiring range is $24 - $32/hour, commensurate with education and experience.
