Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant on a per diem basis at St. Lawrence-Massena Hospital in Massena, NY. Under the supervision of the licensed physical therapist, you will administer therapeutic programs to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability.

You will document progress, educate patients and families, and coordinate discharge planning while maintaining quality standards and collaborating with the care team in a busy clinical setting.

Qualifications

  • Two-year college degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • 3 months of experience derived through educational fieldwork.
  • New York State License required.

Responsibilities

  • Administers patient treatment plan involving application of physical therapy techniques and modalities under the supervision of the physical therapist.
  • Monitors patient response and progress to update treatment plan with the physical therapist.
  • Instructs patients and family members in physical therapy procedures and self-care techniques.
  • Directs the care provided by the physical therapy assistant under supervision.
  • Assists with discharge planning and documentation to provide discharge instructions and maintain post-discharge continuity of care.
  • Documents treatment effects, response and progress.
  • Participates in professional education, training, and development.
  • Consults with the physical therapist, physician, and other health care personnel regarding treatments.
  • Assists in scheduling and registering patients and other duties as assigned.

Monitors response and progress to update and discuss modifications to the treatment plan with the physical therapist in order to meet patient goals. Provides for audiology screening services.Instructs patients and family members/caregivers in physical therapy procedures and self-care techniques. Directs the care that is provided by the physical therapy assistant by providing oversight. Assists with discharge planning and documentation to provide discharge instructions and maintain post-discharge continuity of care.Documents additional information that is not obtained during evaluation and treatment sessions.Document and record the effects of treatments, response, and progress. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.Any physical requirements reported by a prospective employee and/or employee’s physician or delegate will be considered for accommodations.PAY RANGE:$27.75 - $39.82The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
