Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care in North Carolina is seeking a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant. You will work under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, performing treatments, exercise instruction, and demonstration for patients.

The position is per diem with onsite schedule and weekend availability; requires an Associate’s Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant, NC license or eligibility, and BLS certification. Prior experience in diverse settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• BLS certification is required.
• Experience working with interdisciplinary teams is preferred.
• Strong documentation and patient education skills appreciated.

• Precepts PT technicians or other physical therapist assistants and evaluate the learner's competency per department guidelines.

• Instructs physical therapy and physical therapist assistant students.
• Provides skilled physical therapy treatments and designs home exercise programs; teaches use of ambulatory devices and safe mobility techniques.

Responsibilities

• Precepts PT technicians or other physical therapist assistants and evaluate the learner's competency per department guidelines.
• Documents patient treatment and progress toward goals. Completes department records for billing and statistics.
• Instructs physical therapy and physical therapist assistant students.
• Provides skilled physical therapy treatments to a wide variety of patients. Designs and teach exercise program to meet PT goals. Fits and teaches patient to use ambulatory devices including braces, walkers, canes, crutches safely to negotiate stairs, curbs, and unlevel ground. Teaches patient airway clearance techniques and perform chest PT procedures. Instructs patient and family in home exercises, ambulation, and use of adaptive equipment for discharge.
