Responsibilities

As a PTA, you are a vital part of the rehabilitation team, working under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to help patients regain movement, reduce pain, and restore function after injury, illness, or surgery. Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Implementing treatment plans developed by the physical therapist to meet patients' rehabilitation goals.
  • Leading patients through prescribed exercises and therapeutic activities, instructing proper techniques, monitoring progress, and providing feedback.
  • Applying treatment modalities appropriately, monitoring patient responses, and adjusting as needed.
  • Educating patients and families on injury prevention, body mechanics, and pain management techniques.
  • Monitoring patient responses, documenting progress, and communicating with the supervising therapist to adjust treatment plans accordingly.

Qualifications

  • Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
  • Current license/certification in the state of practice
