Job Description

To provide direct occupational therapy services for students with special education needs and coordinate individual programs with students, staff, administrators and parents.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and assess students referred for special education eligibility determination.
  • Develop and implement effective programs of intervention for students with special education needs.
  • Develop IEP goals, benchmarks and assessment methods to monitor a student's progress in the education area identified requiring intervention.
  • Work collaboratively with all building liaisons, principals and teachers to determine eligibility, need for level, and/or continuation of occupational therapy service.
  • Carefully monitor student progress toward achievement of goals, and effectively communicate to the TEAM termination of services where appropriate.
  • Develop programs for efficiently delivering occupational therapy services and managing available resources.
  • Keep thorough and confidential records for the individual students receiving occupational therapy.
  • Consult with parents, classroom teachers, and other staff as needed.
  • Participate at team meetings where students have been recommended for or are currently receiving occupational therapy services.
  • Provide clinical supervision to Occupational Therapy Assistants(s).
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools designee.
Qualifications
  • Hold appropriate license from the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Allied Health Professionals as an Occupational Therapist.
  • A Master's Degree or higher in Occupational Therapy or related field.
  • Experience in delivering occupational therapy services in the public school setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities below as evidenced by course work, educational experience, school‑level involvement and/or system‑wide professional activities and the interview process.
