Job summary

Advanced Correctional Healthcare in Kansas City, MO seeks a Behavioral Health Specialist to screen detainees, provide individual and group psychoeducation, and support custody and medical staff in monitoring behavioral health.

You will coordinate care with county services, maintain referral records for CQI, and help with training to improve problem-solving and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Behavioral/Social Science required.
• Current licensure with clinical specialty from the appropriate state licensing board preferred.
• CPR certification must be obtained prior to hire and maintained while in this role.
• Hands-on or online certifications are accepted.
• Must be able to practice independently.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Perform behavioral health screening of detainees referred by facility staff or identified by prescreening through booking process or nursing services.
• Provide individual and/or group psychoeducation and skills-based interventions.
• Assist custody and medical staff in the monitoring of behavioral health for referred detainees.
• Coordinate with custody and medical staff in the management and treatment of detainees with behavioral health concerns.
• Monitor and assess therapeutic support of segregated and isolated detainees.
• Coordinate with county behavioral health services for continuity of care and discharge planning/case management via sharing of pertinent patient information.
• Complete documentation as well as maintain records for referral tracking and continuous quality improvement (CQI) under supervision.
• Demonstrate commitment and dedication to providing behavioral health support and provide training to solve problems and make lives easier.
