Job summary

Truxaw is seeking a Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in California to lead our land survey department. The role requires at least 5 years of independent boundary mapping experience and strong technical surveying skills, with oversight of budgets, schedules, and client relationships.

The position is based in Orange, CA, offering growth into leadership on major private and public projects across the West. California licensure and a valid driver's license are mandatory.

Qualifications

  • Be a licensed Professional Land Surveyor, in good standing, in California.
  • Have a minimum of five years of experience independently solving complex mapping and boundary problems.
  • Familiar with boundary surveys, ALTA/ACSM Land Title surveys, construction staking, and as-built survey techniques.
  • Driver's License (Required).

Responsibilities

  • Lead capacity to perform our most complex surveying tasks, including map preparation, boundary analysis, research of official records and resolution to boundary issues.
  • Management of projects from start to finish, including schedules, quality, and budgets.
  • Create client relationships and identify opportunities.
  • Prepare, supervise, and process subdivision maps, records of survey, ALTA/NSPS surveys, topographic surveys, lot line adjustments, legal descriptions and exhibits, and other related matters.
  • Supervision and communication with field crews and coordination with Project Managers.
  • Determine project approach and provide direction for staff to execute.
  • Set project budgets and track profitability.
  • Direct construction surveys and staking calculations.

  • Have strong technical surveying skills and be able to work effectively with other technical professionals.
