Job summary

Truxaw, a leading Civil Engineering and Land Surveying firm in Southern California, seeks an experienced Field Surveyor to lead crew operations in ALTA, boundary, topographic, and construction staking projects in Orange, CA. Must hold CA driver’s license; LSIT/PLS a plus.

Strong CAD/office experience and team communication are highly valued. The role involves reading plans, data collection, and occasional overnight travel, contributing to well-known West Coast projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years in the field leading a crew or assisting a party chief.
• Familiar with boundary surveys, ALTA and construction staking.
• Proficient with Trimble Robotic Total Station and Leica GPS equipment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Able to read engineering plans and survey maps or willing to learn.
• Experience recovering boundary monuments and collecting topo data.
• Proficient in processing field data and keeping notes; sketching.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead a survey crew or assist a party chief on surveys.
• Perform boundary, ALTA and construction staking tasks.
• Recover monuments and collect topographic data.
• Process field data, keep field notes, and prepare sketches.
• Read and interpret engineering plans and maps.
• Support the crew chief and mentor junior staff if applicable.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Field Surveyor for our land survey department. You must have experience, either leading a crew in all types of surveys, including ALTA, Boundary, Topographic and Construction Staking or have experience assisting a Survey Party Chief. You must also possess a valid California Driver’s License in good standing. LSIT or California PLS License a plus. Those with Boundary Analysis, CAD and office experience will be highly considered.

You must:

• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D a plus.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Land surveying: 3 years (Required for CREW CHIEF) or 1 YEAR (REQUIRED for CHAINMAN)

License/Certification:

• CA Driver's License (Required)
• CA Surveyor License a plus but not required
