MUSCOGEE (CREEK) NATION

Seeking a LICENSED JOURNEYMAN PLUMBER

General Summary:

Good knowledge of the methods and practices used in installing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of plumbing, gas, and mechanical installations, equipment, and appliances. Knowledge of possible defects and faults in plumbing, gas, and mechanical systems and appliances, and of effective corrective measures. Knowledge of municipal and state plumbing, mechanical, and gas codes, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Ability to diagnose defects and hazards, enforce regulations with firmness, tact, and impartiality, and establish effective relationships with contractors, property owners, and the public. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and municipal codes.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Install drain pipes, soil pipes, waste or vent pipes, water pipes, gas pipes, sewer connections, and water taps within the Muscogee Nation, including connections to water and sewer systems.
2. Install, repair, or add to sanitary sewer, septic tanks, sewage disposal systems, water systems, gas systems, mechanical systems, fixtures, or appliances, and investigate related complaints.
3. Inspect excavations and backfilling, with additional backfilling as needed for up to one year.
4. Issue or refuse permits for street cuts, plumbing, mechanical work, and Front Footage Fee Applications.
5. Review and approve new construction plans and blueprints for compliance with codes and ordinances.
6. Perform inspection duties as needed.
7. Perform other related work as assigned, reporting regularly and punctually to work.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent, with at least three (3) years of practical experience or equivalent training. Must hold a certificate issued by the Oklahoma State examining board as a journeyman plumber or plumbing contractor.

Preferred Requirements:

Five (5) years of experience. Valid Oklahoma Driver's License required.
