Job Title: Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician

Location: Kermit, NM; Midland

Job Summary

The Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of instrumentation and control systems used to monitor and manage process variables such as pressure, temperature, flow, and level. This role supports safe and efficient operations by ensuring systems function reliably and accurately. The technician may also be involved in programming, configuring equipment, and providing technical support to operations and maintenance teams.

Responsibilities
  • Install, inspect, troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation and control systems.
  • Calibrate and configure instruments (pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, flow meters, and control valves) to maintain accuracy and reliability; diagnose and repair electrical issues related to instruments, motors, control panels, and wiring systems.
  • Working knowledge of process meters and communicators to assist commissioning.
  • Interpret and work from electrical and instrumentation drawings, schematics, and documentation.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and maintain accurate calibration and maintenance records.
  • Configure and program instrumentation and control devices, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers).
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and industry regulations.
  • Provide support during shutdowns, turnarounds, and project installations.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs, work flexible hours, and support overtime as needed.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical or Instrumentation Technology.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as an I&E Technician in an industrial setting.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical circuits, PLCs, and various instrumentation devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and instrumentation schematics and P&ID diagrams.
  • Strong understanding and adherence to safety standards and procedures.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve system issues.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physically capable of lifting heavy equipment and working in varying environmental conditions.
  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and respond to emergency calls.
