Job description

Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director of Mi Gente Program and Bradley Outpatient Unit Chief provides comprehensive clinical services as part of a collaborative team. Mi Gente Program focused on the assessment and treatment of Latine adolescent psychopathology including depression suicidality non-suicidal self-injury and trauma. This includes working with adolescents* families from a cultural systemic and ecological approach. An affirmative and culturally relevant treatment is provided to all youth and families. This includes the evaluation and treatment of patients presenting with a wide range of psychiatric and physical/environmental stressors using a full range of psychiatric therapeutic interventions including evaluations and individual family and group psychotherapy. The clinician will be part of a research study aim to test a model of providing treatment to Latine/Hispanic youth who experience suicidal thoughts and behavior and their caregivers. As part of the study the clinician will be trained in an specific Evidence-Based Treatment. Due to the demographics of the patients and families we serve in the Mi Gente Program Spanish language proficiency is required.

This individual also reports to the Clinical Director of Social Work and Counseling regarding professional standards regulatory and licensing requirements credentials/privileges and continuing education.

Responsibilities:

Provide individual therapy family therapy group therapy and mental health evaluations.

Participate in treatment planning to set therapeutic goals in collaboration with the Mi Gente team.

Participate in the execution of the treatment plan goals as they pertain to the therapeutic aspects of the patient/family care.

Complete all required documentation in a professional and timely manner as assigned.

Provide psychoeducation to patients and their families/guardians regarding diagnosis treatment interventions and recommendations as relevant.

Clinical case management as required to coordinate and collaborate in care with both the Mi Gente team and other community supports (schools therapists physicians etc.) for assessment communication and coordination of care.

Participates in service-related meetings including but not limited to team meetings rounds clinical conferences community meetings staff meetings and in-service.

May participate in research or other specialized activities as arranged with supervisor.

Attends Social Work and Counseling Department staff meetings and meets all related responsibilities.

Demonstrates conduct which exemplifies the professional Code of Ethics.

Attend supervision as required.

May provide supervision of social work/counseling students as assigned. This entails:

* Providing reliable high-quality supervision of trainees as assigned and appropriate.

* Participating in teaching of trainees as assigned and appropriate.

* Maintaining active faculty status if it is appropriate/required for assigned trainees.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters* degree in any human services field required such as social work mental health counseling marriage and family therapy psychology from an accredited graduate school.

Current independent license from State of Rhode Island required (LICSW LMHC LMFT)

Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.

AND

Significant experience and/or training work with children adolescents and families.
