Job summary

PetVet Care Centers is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician – Emergency at Hope Advanced Veterinary Center in Vienna, VA. The role entails critical patient care, triage, and collaboration with a team of specialists in a 24/7 facility.

The position offers a sign-on bonus up to $5,000 based on experience, with shifts including overnight Friday–Sunday. Candidates should be CVT/LVT/RVT/LVMT, with at least two years of relevant experience and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two or more years of experience with veterinary appointments, surgeries, and nursing care for hospitalized and critical patients.
• Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or LVMT.
• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

• Determine animal requirements by examinations and interviews, review care plans and records, run tests and imaging.
• Care for patients: vital signs, samples, medications, bandages, wound care.
• Assist with examinations and operations: supplies, rooming, restraining as directed by veterinarian.
• Provide veterinary nursing care using anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, and specialized equipment knowledge.
• Obtain and verify medications.
• Ensure patients have food and water, clean rooms, observe for signs of disease.
• Fill prescriptions and administer medications with proper documentation and handling of controlled substances.
• Maintain a sterile, safe environment; sterilize tools; manage supplies and shelf life.
