Job summary

Mentor Technical Group seeks a skilled Electrician in Puerto Rico to install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures in compliance with national and local codes.

You will assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical systems, diagnose issues with PLCs and VFDs, and work from ladders, scaffolds and roofs. The role requires technical training and a licensed electrician certification in Puerto Rico.

Qualifications

• Technical college electrician training.
• Licensed electrician in Puerto Rico required.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in line with codes.
• Ability to assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures.
• Maintain electrical equipment to meet regulatory codes at state and federal levels.
• Demonstrate safe use of shop tools (hand and power).
• Demonstrate mechanical knowledge.
• Competent with programming of VFDs and PLC troubleshooting.
• Work from ladders, scaffolds and roofs to install, maintain or repair wiring and fixtures.
• Test electrical systems and continuity using ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscillos Scopes to ensure safety.
• Perform duties in hot/cold/dusty fast-paced environments.
• Complete forms such as time sheets and work orders.
• Attend emergency calls outside normal hours when available.
• Work safely and comply with EHS policies and GMP practices when required.
• Provide support to staff during absences and emergencies.
• Maintain positive relations and customer care.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes. May install or service streetlights, intercom systems, or electrical control systems. Instalar, mantener y reparar la cablería eléctrica, el equipo y los accesorios. Asegurar de que el trabajo es de acuerdo con los códigos relevantes. Puede instalar o dar servicio a las luces de la calle, sistemas de intercomunicación o sistemas de control eléctrico.
• Ability to assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures. Capacidad para ensamblar, instalar, probar y mantener cablería eléctrico o electrónico, equipos, electrodomésticos, aparatos y accesorios.
• Maintain electrical equipment to meet regulatory codes at state and federal levels. Mantener el equipo eléctrico para cumplir con los códigos reglamentarios a nivel estatal y federal.
• Demonstrate safe and proficient use of shop tools (both hand and power). Demostrar el uso seguro y competente de las herramientas del taller (tanto de mano como de eléctrico).
• Demonstrate mechanical knowledge. Demostrar conocimiento mecánico.
• Competent with programming of VFD’s. Competente con la programación de VFD.
• Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot PLC’s. Conocimiento y capacidad de solucionar problemas de PLC.
• Must be physically capable of performing work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures. Debe ser físicamente capaz de realizar trabajos desde escaleras, andamios y techos para instalar, mantener o reparar cablería eléctrica, el equipo y los accesorios.
• Proficient in testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system. Competente en pruebas de sistemas eléctricos y continuidad de circuitos de cablería eléctrica, equipos y accesorios, utilizando dispositivos de prueba tales como ohmímetros, voltímetros y osciloscopios, para garantizar la compatibilidad y seguridad del sistema.
• Perform duties in a work environment that will be hot, cold, dirty and fast-paced. Realizar tareas en un ambiente de trabajo que pudiera estar caliente, frío, sucio y de paso/ritmo rápido.
• Able to complete forms e.g. time sheets, works order request forms indicating materials used/required, times, work undertaken etc. Apto para completar formularios, ej: hojas de nómina, formularios de órdenes de trabajo que indiquen los materiales utilizados / requeridos, los tiempos en el trabajo realizado, etc.
• Work overtime when required (including weekends and/or holidays). Disponible para trabajar horas extras cuando sea necesario (incluidos fines de semana y / o días feriados).
• Attend emergency calls outside of normal working, if available. Asistir a llamadas de emergencia fuera del trabajo normal, si disponible.
• Perform all duties in a safe and proper manner and complying with the EHS policies. Realizar todas las tareas de manera segura y apropiada y que cumpla con las políticas de EHS.
• Ensure that all documents are completed complying with the GMP’s practices when required. Asegurar que todos los documentos estén completos cumpliendo con las prácticas de GMP cuando sea requerido.
• Provide cover for other members of staff during holidays, sickness or other absences and in emergencies. Proveer apoyo a otros miembros del personal durante vacaciones, enfermedad u otras ausencias y en emergencias.
• Be proactive with people, keeping them informed; maintain positive relations and demonstrate good customer care. Ser proactivo con las personas, manteniéndolas informadas; mantener relaciones positivas y demostrar una buena atención al cliente.

Qualifications

• Technical College Electrician Degree. Grado técnico de universidad preferido.
• Certified/Licensed Electrician awarded by the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Electricista certificado / licencia otorgado por el Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate equipment, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk, or hear; sit; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and smell. The employee may lift and/or move up to 25-35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• He/she may frequently work inside weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts, exposed to wet and or humid conditions, and an odorous atmosphere, may be exposed to fumes and the risk of electrical shock, and occasionally work on ladders in high places, in small spaces, such as lift/metering stations, manholes, tanks and wet wells. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.
