Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with relevant codes.
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures.
- Maintain electrical equipment to meet regulatory codes at state and federal levels.
- Demonstrate mechanical knowledge.
- Competent with programming of VFDs.
- Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot PLCs.
- Physically capable of performing work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs.
- Proficient in testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.
- Perform duties in a work environment that will be hot, cold, dirty, and fast-paced.
- Complete forms e.g. time sheets, work order request forms indicating materials used/required, times, work undertaken, etc.
- Work overtime when required (including weekends and/or holidays).
- Attend emergency calls outside of normal working hours, if available.
- Perform all duties safely and in compliance with EHS policies.
- Complete documents complying with GMP practices when required.
- Provide cover for other staff during holidays, sickness, or other absences and in emergencies.
- Maintain positive relations and demonstrate good customer care.
- Execute preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and general repair work on assigned mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.
- Perform effective inspections, testing, and emptying secondary containment systems (dams).
- Correct deficiencies found in inspections.
- Report any spills immediately to your supervisor.
- Take readings of the hours of operation of boilers and fuel consumption.
- Take readings of the hours of operation of generators and fire pumps.
- Receive diesel for boilers and emergency generators.
- Ensure that boilers flow meters are calibrated at the set frequency.
- Ensure accuracy of generators and fire pumps data taking.
- Monitor/document operational parameters to ensure optimum control and regulatory compliance.
- Report any deviations.
- Provide maintenance to critical measurement equipment and tools, reporting failures and repairs if necessary.
- Analyze fuel and water consumption to detect irregularities and take action if necessary.
- Ensure that leak detection systems of dikes are operating properly.
- Identify gaps in utility systems and take action to repair and restore normal operation.
- Strictly follow company’s safety and cGMP policies and procedures.
- Able to work extra hours, at night, on weekends, and irregular shifts.
- Able to respond to emergency calls.
- Maintain a current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications Requirements/Knowledge/Education/Skills:
- Technical College Electrician Degree.
- Licensed Electrician awarded by the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico with 3 to 5 years of experience.
Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate equipment, tools, or controls. Frequently required to stand, walk, talk, or hear; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. May lift and/or move up to 25-35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- May frequently work in various weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts, exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, and an odorous atmosphere. May be exposed to fumes and the risk of electrical shock, and occasionally work on ladders in high places, in small spaces such as lift/metering stations, manholes, tanks, and wet wells. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.
