Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain circuits for heat, power, lighting, motors, signals, and alarm systems.
• Inspect motors, signal and alarm systems, receptacles, emergency generators, lighting systems, and grounding systems.
• Complete preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, circuits, wiring, and related equipment.
• Maintain records of testing, inspections, maintenance activities, and assigned work.
• Respond to electrical emergencies and urgent facility needs as required.
• Communicate effectively with staff and management regarding electrical systems and concerns.
• Participate in departmental planning and develop solutions to complex electrical issues.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment within Engineering Department areas.
• Respond to service calls from all hospital areas as assigned.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical codes and standards.

Job description

Journeyman Electrician

Under general supervision, you will install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment throughout the facility. This role supports critical infrastructure, including power, lighting, signals, alarms, and emergency systems, and often involves working on complex electrical problems and systems.

Schedule Requirements

• May be required to participate in an on‑call rotation and carry a pager.
• May be required to work weekends or rotating shifts.

What You'll Do

Required Experience & Training

• Completion of 600 hours of formal technical electrical training required.
• Successful completion of a four‑year electrical apprenticeship required.

• Strong knowledge of electrical theory, installation, testing, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
• Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
