Job summary

American Cruise Lines seeks a Licensed Engineer to oversee the technical operation and maintenance of shipboard systems across diverse itineraries. The role supports propulsion, electrical, and auxiliary systems, with responsibility for safety, compliance, and high standards of service onboard.

The Engineer will report to the Captain, coordinate repairs, training, and scheduling, and ensure rapid response to technical issues while maintaining a safe, clean, and well-run vessel environment.

Qualifications

• Valid Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC).
• TWIC – Transportation Worker Identification Card.
• Pre-employment drug test and ongoing random testing.
• Experience with diesel machinery, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Ability to follow technical procedures and assist with maintenance and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot shipboard machinery, propulsion, auxiliary, and electrical systems.
• Provide 24-hour response for technical issues and emergencies.
• Support vessel docking, logistics, and operational maintenance as needed.
• Implement maintenance schedules to keep equipment in optimal condition.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and maritime regulations.
• Document maintenance, repairs, liquid transfers, and inventory.
• Collaborate with Hotel Officers and Service Crew to support five-star guest service.
