Educational and Licensing Requirements:
MSW, PsyD, or PhD in behavioral health field or M.A. or M.S. in behavioral health with a clinical practice emphasis from a program that is accredited by COAMFTE, CACREP, or CORE.
Licensed as a limited or fully licensed social worker or counselor according to the state licensing board requirements.
Location Requirement:
You must reside and have at least one of the following licenses in Colorado (CO) PLPC, LPCC, PSW, CSWC, LSW, PSP, PSYC,LMFT LPC, LCSW, LP
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate for this role is someone who possesses a blend of empathy, strong communication skills, and the ability to listen actively and attentively. They should be capable of managing high-stress situations with calm and effective crisis intervention techniques and have robust problem-solving skills to provide solution-focused interventions. Patience, resilience, and the ability to multitask are essential qualities for the ideal candidate, as the job requires handling intense calls while maintaining composure and managing multiple tasks and computer processes simultaneously. A background in psychology, social work, counseling, or other related behavioral healthcare fields is required, and experience in crisis support or similar roles is preferred.
Ethical standards and discretion are crucial to our ideal candidate. This role also requires maintaining confidentiality and a HIPAA-compliant, secure workspace with a locking door to ensure compliance and respect the privacy of callers. The ideal candidate understands that Protocall is a Remote First Organization and they will be comfortable working in a remote environment. They understand that having a stable, wired internet connection that meets Protocall’s requirements is necessary to ensure the safety of our callers.
Additionally, the candidate must be flexible with their availability, as a crisis call center we operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and our work requires staff who are willing to regularly work holidays and weekends. The ideal candidate understands that they are required to attend an intensive virtual eight-week training program. This program is designed to refine the skills they already possess and provide them with any missing skills needed to better align with the role of a telephonic first responder. This training program consists of two 4-week phases. The first phase runs Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM PST. The schedule for the second phase will be determined after coordinating with the Protocall Services Scheduling Department to establish the candidate's long-term schedule that meets the needs of the organization. They understand their continued employment is contingent upon completion of this training program.

Overview Role of a Remote Crisis Counselor
• Working from home maintaining HIPAA compliance and focus requiring private office space
• Speak with consumers over the phone connecting with people experiencing emotional distress or mental health issues
• Building rapport and client engagement
• Assessing/mitigating risk and manage documentation while on calls
• Provide available resources or information needed
• Identify safe, positive ways of coping and/or developing a safety plan
• Emergency intervention that may be needed
• Remaining calm and professional while multi-tasking in a fast paced environment
