Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Experience Requirements

Who You Are:

You are a compassionate and empathetic professional with excellent communication skills, capable of active listening and connecting with individuals in crisis via phone, text, or other methods. You thrive in high-pressure environments, employing effective crisis intervention techniques, maintaining calmness, and demonstrating resilience. A background in psychology, social work, counseling, or related behavioral healthcare is essential, with experience in crisis support highly valued. Integrity, confidentiality, and a secure, HIPAA-compliant workspace are mandatory. You must have a stable, wired internet connection that meets company standards.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a HIPAA-compliant private workspace at home for confidentiality and focus
  • Engage with individuals over the phone, providing emotional support
  • Build rapport and foster client engagement during calls
  • Assess and mitigate risk, documenting thoroughly and accurately
  • Provide resources, information, and referrals as needed
  • Assist callers in identifying coping strategies and safety plans
  • Intervene during emergencies when necessary
  • Stay calm, professional, and focused while multitasking in a fast-paced environment
What You Can Expect as a New Employee:

You will demonstrate flexibility to work holidays and weekends as part of our 24/7/365 crisis call center. The role begins with a paid six-week virtual training program, designed to develop your skills through various learning modalities including book learning, group sessions, roleplay, and live call-taking. Successful completion of this training is required for continued employment.

Six Week Cohort Training Schedule:

Attend a Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM PST training for six weeks.

Post Cohort Training:

After training, you will begin your regular schedule, coordinated with Protocall’s Scheduling Department during onboarding.
