Job summary

The State of Michigan is seeking an Engineer Manager Licensed 14 to lead and oversee professional engineers and consultants on MDOT highway and bridge construction projects. You will manage pre-construction reviews, progress meetings, schedules, traffic plans, and coordination with utilities.

You will mentor staff, ensure compliance with federal-aid requirements, and align with TSC, Region, FHWA, and Lansing objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor of science degree in engineering.
Five years of professional experience equivalent to an Engineer, including progression through Engineer 11/12 levels as stated.
Valid driver's license.
Registered professional engineering license as required by the State of Michigan.
If applicable, foreign degree evaluation or transcripts as part of the application.

Responsibilities

Lead first-line professional managers of engineers in a complex work area.
Manage highway and bridge construction projects built by contractors within the MDOT Transportation Service Center area.
Administer construction projects while aligning with TSC, Region, FHWA, and Lansing.
Perform pre-construction plan reviews and conduct pre-construction and progress meetings with contractors.
Develop progress schedules and review traffic maintenance plans.
Supervise MDOT engineering and inspection staff and oversee consultant teams.
Coordinate activities with utilities and approve oversight of local agencies for fed‑aid projects.
Meet deadlines, address customers' needs, and resolve complex issues to ensure ongoing MDOT services.
