M.C. Dean is hiring an Electrical Service / UPS installation systems Technician for the Service & National Accounts Group. The role involves electrical installations, UPS servicing, and a focus on customer satisfaction and safety. 60% travel across the United States is expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, conduit, cable, equipment per plans.
  • Install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain EMS systems, smart breakers, devices, panels, sensors, and components.
  • Inspect sites, study orders and drawings to determine material requirements and procedures.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity using test equipment.
  • Diagnose malfunctions and locate root cause, coordinating safe resolutions.
  • Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring and fixtures.
  • Travel across the United States up to 60% of the time.

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be working as an Electrical Service / UPS installation systems Technician for M.C. Dean’s Service & National Accounts Group. This Group operates 24/7 - 365 to support our customers and is known for being the best in class for providing the Ultimate Customer Experience. We provide world‑class support and training to our team members and have a family‑oriented culture with primary focus on customer satisfaction, quality, and safety. This is a regional service position that will require regular travel across the United States. You will be responsible for electrical installations, UPS installs servicing basic electrical equipment and systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, and codes, and for resolving the customer’s electrical problems in the highest professional and safe manner. You will be expected to present yourself in a clean and professional manner at all times.

  • Assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, conduit, cable, equipment, components and devices associated with electrical equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.
  • Installing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining EMS systems, smart breakers, electronic controls, devices, panels, sensors, and components.
  • Inspecting installation sites and studying work orders, building plans, and installation manuals to determine materials requirements and installation procedures.
  • Testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using test devices.
  • Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Directing and training workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • This position will require 60% travel across the United States at various locations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED with minimum five (5+) years of experience working in the electrical service industry, including experience installing UPS systems.
  • Current Journeyman license or VMET in VA, MD, or WV.
  • Must satisfy the government security investigation eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a top‑secret clearance.
Candidate Expectations
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug test.
  • This position may require ongoing or intermittent use of a company vehicle; selected candidates must possess an acceptable driving record in accordance with company policy.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of all electrical tools, including testing equipment.
  • Must have good working knowledge using smart devices (smart phones, tablets, etc.) and be comfortable using multiple web‑based applications.
  • Must be committed to excellence and generate high‑quality work.
  • Must wear OSHA‑approved boot length pants and a shirt that covers the shoulders by seven (7) inches.
  • Must consistently report to work on time, work well with other employees to accomplish a common goal, and maintain a safe work environment.
Desired / Advantageous Qualifications
  • Any other relevant certifications (e.g., Lift and Aerial Training).
  • NFPA 70E.
  • OSHA 30.
  • UPS installation knowledge.

Abilities
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis; candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina for loading, unloading, operating equipment, and transporting materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed.
  • Should relocate a 12‑foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
  • Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected) and ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Can recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong, without solving the problem.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce logical answers.
  • Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions.
  • See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
