The Southeastern Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. (SCADD) seeks a licensed clinician to join our New London transitional treatment program in New London, CT.

The role focuses on individualized, evidence-based counseling and case management to support clients on recovery paths. Responsibilities include assessment, treatment planning, counseling, crisis intervention, discharge planning, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Must hold clinical licensure: Associate or independent (LMSW/LPC-A/LMFT-A or LCSW/LPC/LMFT/LADC).
• Strong assessment, treatment planning, and documentation skills required.
• Commitment to trauma-informed care, recovery-oriented practice, and DEI values.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical services in the transitional program—assessment, treatment planning, counseling, crisis intervention, and discharge planning.
• Orient clients to program goals, rules, and rights at admission.
• Coordinate case management with services and community resources for discharge planning.
• Deliver education on substance use disorders to individuals and groups.
• Conduct crisis interventions for clients in distress and document all activities.

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Counselor to join our New London transitional treatment program — providing individualized, evidence-based counseling and case management to clients on their path to recovery.

What You’ll Do:

As a Licensed Counselor, you will provide direct clinical services to clients in our New London transitional treatment program — supporting individuals through assessment, treatment planning, counseling, crisis intervention, and discharge planning in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting.

Responsibilities include:

• Orient clients to the program, including program goals, rules of conduct, and client rights upon admission
• Ensure insurance authorizations are accounted for in alignment with dates of treatment and services provided
• Provide education and information to clients individually and in group settings on substance use disorders and recovery resources
• Coordinate case management needs, matching services, agencies, and community resources with clients to assist with discharge planning
• Provide crisis intervention services in response to clients experiencing acute emotional or physical distress
• Support clients in identifying strengths, challenges, and needs to inform ongoing treatment planning for substance use and/or mental health concerns
• Identify client needs that exceed the current level of care and assist with referrals to appropriate support systems and community resources
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to report on client progress and modify established treatment plans as needed
• Formulate clinical interventions to promote client stability, engagement, and investment in treatment
• Provide counseling for family members or significant others as appropriate
• Complete all required documentation accurately and on time, including progress notes, referral and contractual networking records, and incident reports
• Conduct initial client assessments for placement and ongoing assessments for continued treatment or referral to a more appropriate level of care
• Establish individualized treatment plans with clients, incorporating targeted goals, objectives, and interventions that maximize strengths and available resources
• Utilize individual, group, and family counseling skills to help clients explore problems, examine attitudes and feelings, consider alternative solutions, and make meaningful decisions
• Chart assessment and treatment planning results, writing reports, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other client-related documentation in a timely manner

What You’ll Need:

• Clinical Licensure: Associate licensure (LMSW, LPC-A, or LMFT-A) or independent licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or LADC) required
• Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, and documentation skills
