Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Licensed Clinical Therapist for outpatient therapy with youth and adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD). The role includes conducting evaluations, creating treatment plans, and providing various forms of therapy while adhering to effective treatment strategies and community resources.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in social work, marriage/family counseling, or related field required.
  • Independent licensure including LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist is mandatory.
  • Experience with youth and adults with I/DD and behavioral health disorders using best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient therapy to individuals with I/DD and their families.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to formulate diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Maintain knowledge of psychiatric medications and ensure clients adhere to protocols.

Summary

Provides outpatient therapy to youth and adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD) who have behavioral health disorders and their families. Clinician must be knowledgeable of effective behavioral health treatment strategies with this population and community resources to support their needs.

Provides outpatient therapy to youth and adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD) who have behavioral health disorders and their families. Clinician must be knowledgeable of effective behavioral health treatment strategies with this population and community resources to support their needs.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates understanding of child adolescent and adult development particularly as it relates to individuals with I/DD.
  • Adheres to trauma-informed recovery-focused culturally-competent and consumer and family-driven principles of care.
  • Conducts comprehensive evaluations to formulate accurate diagnoses determine psychological status and level of risk and determine treatment and educational interventions.
  • Prepares comprehensive treatment plans that address the needs identified in the clinical evaluation.
  • Provides individual psychotherapy family therapy group therapy and psycho-education in accordance with treatment plan goals.
  • Communicates with other providers including primary care physicians to coordinate care.
  • Applies diagnostic and treatment strategies that are considered evidence-based strategies.
  • Is alert and responsive to client issues and behaviors. Modifies treatment planning to meet client needs and changes in situation. Documents with client if possible treatment implementation and related issues in progress notes and/or treatment plan review documents.
  • Completes assessments treatment plans progress notes and discharge summaries according to clinical standards and required timelines.
  • Identifies family needs that can be supported through other community-based resources maintaining familiarity with the eligibility requirements of those resources and methods of referral.
  • Identifies indicators of abuse and neglect.
  • Conducts risk assessments for potential client harm to self or others.
  • Maintains knowledge of psychiatric medications and works with prescribing professionals to assess and address the needs of clients assisting them in adhering to medication protocols and obtaining refills.
  • Maintains required productivity hours for billable services which will include some late afternoon and evening hours.

Other Information

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master
  • s Degree in social work marriage/family counseling rehabilitation counseling mental health counseling or a related mental health field.
  • Independent licensure including LICSW LMHC LMFT or Licensed Clinical Psychologist
  • Experience working with youth and adults with I/DD who have behavioral health disorders and their families using best practice treatment protocols.
  • Credentialed on insurance panels (Gateway will facilitate)

Necessary Special Requirements

  • Flexible schedule that enables evening and weekend hours
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with clients family members supervisor other agency staff community professionals and other members of the community.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required training and certifications.
