The Woman’s Hospital Perinatal Mental Health Unit is seeking a licensed clinical social worker to assess psychosocial needs, develop treatment plans and provide counseling to perinatal patients with mental health needs.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention, discharge planning, advocacy, and coordination with a multidisciplinary team. PRN schedule with weekend coverage and some weekdays is available, with competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Formación

• Active licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker through the Louisiana State Board of Social Workers Examiners.
• Graduation from an accredited college with a degree in Social Work.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the mental health specialty.
• Knowledge of laws, regulations, compliance and ethical guidelines related to mental health practice.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Empathy, patience, and non-judgmental approach.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments to evaluate patients' mental health status, strengths, challenges, and identify social determinants and barriers preventing long term wellness.
• Develop rapport and collaborate with patients, families, and the treatment team to develop individualized treatment plans that address mental health goals, including crisis intervention and long-term care planning.
• Provide individual and group counseling to patients, addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, substance misuse, trauma, and coping strategies.
• Coordinate and monitor the delivery of mental health services, ensuring that patients have access to necessary outpatient resources, including therapy, follow up appointments and medication
• Advocate for patients' rights and needs within the mental health system, legal system, and community, ensuring they receive appropriate care and support.
• Provide immediate crisis intervention and support during mental health emergencies, collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety.
• Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for managing symptoms and achieving recovery.
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, documenting assessments, treatment plans, progress, and outcomes in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Connect patients with community resources, support groups, and services that can assist in their recovery and improve their overall quality of life.
• Work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, and other mental health professionals to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans and assist in the discharge planning process. Make post-acute appointments for follow up care as necessary.
• Adhere to ethical standards and principles of social work, ensuring that patient confidentiality and autonomy are respected.
• Perform other duties assigned by department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.

The Woman’s Hospital Perinatal Mental Health Unit is the state’s first inpatient pregnancy and postpartum psychiatric unit. The unit has a specialty focus on perinatal women with acute mental health conditions and patients requiring detainment for the treatment of perinatal women suffering from mental health illness.

The Social Worker in the Perinatal Mental Health Unit is responsible for assessing the psychosocial needs of individuals with mental health issues, developing treatment plans, and providing therapeutic support and counseling to help clients achieve improved mental health and well-being. They work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and support.

Requirements

• Active licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker through the Louisiana State Board of Social Workers Examiners.
• Requires graduation from an accredited college with a degree in Social Work.

• Coverage needed for every other weekend
• Some weekday coverage needed

Pay Range

• $27.72 - $40.19
• PRN Differential: $4.71/hour
• Weekend Differential: $7.00/hour
