Job description

Job Summary

The role of this position is to provide clinical social work evaluations, counseling, medication monitoring under a psychiatrist's supervision, case management, and W & I 5150 implementation. Responsibilities include pre-release planning, crisis intervention, caseload management, documentation, triage, consultation, training, education, and referrals.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited school
  • Active and unrestricted CA Clinical Social Worker License (LCSW)
  • Clinical experience in social services or healthcare, including case management
  • Conflict management skills
  • Experience in psychosocial history taking, case evaluations, interviews, suicide assessments, forensic designations
  • Knowledge of individual, group, and family therapy
  • Understanding of community resources
  • Cultural and socioeconomic sensitivity
  • Knowledge of reporting requirements for child, elder abuse, domestic violence, and relevant laws like Tarasoff and confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a jail or correctional setting
  • Knowledge of criminal justice, hospital systems, forensic mental health, Probation, Parole, and Corrections

Jail Psychiatric Services (JPS) provides inpatient and outpatient mental health services to inmates in Sacramento County jails.

Work Environment & Requirements

Must work in a stressful jail environment, pass security clearance, and be willing to work flexible hours including holidays and weekends. The position involves background checks, drug screening, fingerprinting, medical evaluation, and capacity assessments.
