Job description

Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director/Unit Chief, provides comprehensive clinical services as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This includes evaluating and treating patients with various psychiatric and physical/environmental stressors using a full range of therapeutic interventions, including evaluations, individual, family, and group psychotherapy. This individual also reports to the Clinical Director of Social Work and Counseling regarding professional standards, regulatory and licensing requirements, credentials/privileges, and continuing education.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, and mental health evaluations.
  2. Participate in treatment planning to set therapeutic goals collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
  3. Implement the treatment plan goals related to therapy and patient/family care.
  4. Complete all required documentation professionally and promptly.
  5. Provide psychoeducation to patients and families/guardians about diagnosis, treatment, interventions, and recommendations.
  6. Manage clinical cases as needed, coordinating with the multidisciplinary team and community supports for assessment, communication, and aftercare planning.
  7. Participate in service-related meetings, including team meetings, rounds, clinical conferences, community meetings, staff meetings, and in-service training.
  8. Engage in research or other specialized activities as arranged with the supervisor.
  9. Attend Social Work and Counseling Department staff meetings and fulfill related responsibilities.
  10. Adhere to the professional Code of Ethics through conduct.
  11. Attend weekly supervision sessions to progress toward independent licensure.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Other information:

Education: Masters degree in a human services field such as social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, or psychology from an accredited graduate school.

Qualifications:

Current license from the State of Rhode Island (e.g., BUHCSW, LMHC-A) is required.

Demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide care across the lifespan, considering aging processes, human development, and cultural patterns.

Significant experience and/or training working with children, adolescents, and families.
