The work you do will make a lasting impact on both the individuals you serve and the broader community.

Key Responsibilities:

  5. Shape the Future: Help inmates gain valuable coping strategies, improve decision-making skills, and work toward a healthier future.
  6. Ensure Confidentiality & Accuracy: Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with facility standards, ensuring that all documentation is up-to-date and in compliance with regulations.
  7. Be a Strong Advocate: Champion mental health within the correctional environment, advocating for the needs and well-being of incarcerated individuals.

  2. Professional Development: We support your growth through ongoing professional development opportunities and training. You’ll have the chance to expand your knowledge, skills, and certifications in the field of correctional mental health.
  3. Work with Purpose: Every day, you’ll see the real difference you’re making in people’s lives. You’ll be able to look back and know that your efforts helped someone start a new chapter, both mentally and emotionally.
  4. A Supportive Environment: Join a close-knit team where collaboration and mutual support are at the heart of everything we do. You’ll have the resources and teamwork needed to succeed and thrive in this role.

Requirements:

  1. Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
  2. Current, active North Carolina LCSW license.
  3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in mental health counseling, ideally in a correctional or institutional setting.
  4. Knowledge of mental health diagnoses, evidence-based therapeutic techniques, and crisis management.
  5. Strong ability to communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds and provide compassionate support in challenging situations.
  6. Ability to maintain professional boundaries while fostering trust and a therapeutic relationship with inmates.
  7. Understanding of legal and ethical guidelines within a correctional mental health context.

Preferred Qualifications:

  2. Crisis intervention certification.
  3. Familiarity with North Carolina’s correctional system and policies.
