Position services: Supports Alvernia University employees and students. (Reading PA Residents Preferred). Although infrequent, travel may be necessary to cover other colleges within the region. This is a part-time, 20-hour per week position from August 1 through May 31. June and July are 0.1 FTE: Medical center hours; August 1 to May 15 hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 7:30-4:30, Tuesday 9-6, Friday 7:30-2; May 16 to July 31 hours: 8:00-1:00; On-call required.

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides behavioral health counseling services to patients and their families in outpatient settings. Care includes services for children (5-13), adolescents (14-18), adults (19-64), and older adults (65+), depending on the outpatient setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must be able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to:

  1. Counsel individuals, couples, and families with mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, stress, substance abuse, and psychosocial crises.
  2. Complete biopsychosocial assessments for new patients and develop/implement therapeutic treatment plans with brief, action-oriented interventions. Collaborate with treatment team members and serve as a resource/consultant on behavioral health issues.
  3. Develop and facilitate group psycho-educational programs addressing medical and mental health needs. Provide in-service training to team members to enhance understanding of behavioral health needs and care.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: These duties are secondary to primary duties:

  1. Complete documentation in electronic health records according to standards.
  2. Attend staff meetings and participate in planning, development, and quality improvement of behavioral health services.
  3. Participate in on-call responsibilities as required.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

For positions supported by PCCD through VOCA funds in cost center 7588 Lancaster County Children's Alliance Center, incumbents will work solely with VOCA-eligible victims of crime.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. Higher levels (Psy.D., Ph.D.) considered but not required.
  • Currently licensed by the State of Pennsylvania to practice independently: LCSW, Licensed Psychologist, LPC, or LMFT.
  • Two (2) years of experience in mental health as a primary therapist or equivalent clinical experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Two (2) years of experience in individual, group, or family therapy.
