Job summary

International SOS Government Medical Services is seeking a Behavioral Health Counselor to support treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term recovery for adults in a state correctional healthcare setting. You will work with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and long-term outcomes within your scope of practice.

The role requires current BLS and Ohio licensure (LICDC/LISW/LPCC); strong collaboration skills and the ability to assist with lifting as needed in a structured clinical

Qualifications

  • BLS current from AHA or Red Cross.
  • Active Ohio licensure in LICDC/LISW/LPCC.
  • Ability to work with patients with behavioral/psychiatric conditions and lift up to 60+ lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and update individualized behavioral health treatment plans based on patient needs and progress.
  • Conduct assessments, evaluations, admissions coordination, and crisis intervention within scope of practice.
  • Coordinate referrals and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, internal departments, community agencies, and external partners to support continuity of care.
  • Evaluate treatment effectiveness, modify interventions, and maintain accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, training, and program improvement activities while supporting lower-level providers when appropriate.

Job Description

You'll work within a structured behavioral health environment supporting treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term patient outcomes for an adult patient population in a state correctional healthcare setting.

You'll work independently within your scope of practice while collaborating with treatment teams, internal departments, and community support agencies to coordinate patient care and long-term treatment outcomes.

Requirements
  • Current BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Current active Ohio licensure in one of the following professional pathways is required and must be maintained in accordance with state continuing education requirements:
    • LICDC - Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor
    • LISW - Licensed Independent Social Worker
    • LPCC - Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor
  • Ability to work with patients who may have behavioral or psychiatric conditions and meet role-related physical requirements, including occasional lifting up to 60+ lbs.
