Licensed Behavioral Health Care Coordinator

Euola is seeking an experienced Licensed Behavioral Health Care Coordinator to support the Iowa Army National Guard's Behavioral Health Program at Camp Dodge in Johnston, Iowa.

The Licensed Behavioral Health Care Coordinator will support the mental health, wellness, medical readiness, and operational readiness of Iowa Army National Guard Service Members. This position focuses on behavioral health assessment, case management, care coordination, risk assessment, referrals, documentation, and connecting Service Members with appropriate military, VA, community, and civilian behavioral health resources.

The position works closely with the Director of Psychological Health, Office of the State Surgeon, military leadership, medical readiness personnel, and community providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct behavioral health screenings, assessments, biopsychosocial assessments, substance-use assessments, and risk assessments.
  • Identify Service Members requiring behavioral health intervention, additional evaluation, or community resources.
  • Coordinate behavioral health, mental health, and substance-abuse referrals and follow-up care.
  • Conduct intake and risk assessments and develop preliminary clinical impressions and recommendations.
  • Monitor and follow Service Members identified as high risk and document required follow-up.
  • Utilize behavioral health screening tools including PHQ-9, GAD-7, Columbia Suicide Severity screening tools, PTSD screening tools, and alcohol-use screening instruments.
  • Coordinate services with military treatment facilities, VA resources, TRICARE providers, community providers, and other appropriate organizations.
  • Maintain accurate behavioral health case-management records and documentation in required electronic health record systems.
  • Prepare case summaries, medical-readiness documentation, Narrative Summaries (NARSUMs), and other required correspondence.
  • Assist with temporary-profile and medical-readiness documentation.
  • Support Periodic Health Assessments (PHA), Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP), Yellow Ribbon, and outreach events.
  • Coordinate with military leadership and Iowa Army National Guard behavioral health, medical readiness, suicide prevention, family, resiliency, and support programs.
  • Maintain strict HIPAA, Privacy Act, and military medical-record confidentiality requirements.
  • Provide monthly case-management and workload reporting as required.
  • Travel to Iowa Army National Guard locations as mission requirements dictate.
Required Qualifications
  • Current state license or certification as a qualified mental health practitioner, such as a social worker, clinical psychologist, professional counselor, marriage and family counselor, or qualified substance-abuse counselor.
  • Ability to obtain or maintain appropriate Iowa licensure or qualifying reciprocal-state licensure within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to practice independently without state-mandated clinical supervision.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical or administrative mental-health-care experience following completion of the qualifying degree.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting biopsychosocial, substance-abuse, and behavioral-health risk assessments.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare delivery systems.
  • Experience with electronic/client case-management systems.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to meet Department of Defense background investigation, installation-access, and Common Access Card requirements.
Education
  • A Master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited institution, or equivalent education qualifying the individual to practice at the LMSW level or equivalent, is strongly preferred.
  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, social sciences, or a related field and at least three years of relevant behavioral-health experience may also be considered subject to Government approval.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting military personnel, Veterans, first responders, or military families.
  • Knowledge of Army or Air Force medical-readiness regulations.
  • Experience working with community behavioral-health agencies and referral networks.
  • Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor credential or equivalent certification.
  • Familiarity with military behavioral-health and medical-readiness systems.
  • Previous Department of Defense, National Guard, military health, VA, or Defense Health Agency experience.

Schedule: Generally Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, with approximately one evening and one weekend per month and occasional additional support based on mission requirements

Work Arrangement: On-site/telework flexibility based on mission requirements

Additional Requirements

Candidates must be able to successfully complete required Department of Defense background and security processes and required Government training. The position may require approximately 10% travel throughout Iowa and periodic evening and weekend work, including National Guard drill weekends.
