Job summary

Geisinger in Danville, PA seeks an Athletic Trainer to provide care to athletes and patients in preventive, emergency, and rehabilitative settings, and to document care per physician orders.

The role supports the Orthopaedics service line, assists in developing community programs, and acts as a physician extender to supervising physicians within Orthopaedics clinics. Requires Bachelor's degree and professional certifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer and PA licensed; includes BLS and CPR certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Athletic Training services to patients and contracted organizations as assigned.
  • Assist with development, implementation, and staffing for community events and related programming.
  • Provide support by covering other contracted schools or changing assignments.
  • Establish and maintain community relations and provide educational programs for coaches, athletes and community members.
  • Establish and updates contracted organization Policy and Procedure manual with annual reviews.
  • Perform initial patient assessments and screens, develop and distribute ongoing patient education information.
  • Distribute Home Exercise Programs (HEP) and educate patient and family as directed by supervising physician.
  • Prepare injections for physicians and physician assistants.
  • Perform splinting and casting under physicians orders.
  • Perform cast and suture removal.
  • Perform scribing duties for a physician during a patient’s physical exam, as needed.

Job Duties
