Build Your Career with Summit Service Solutions – Where Skilled Professionals and Opportunity Meet.
Power, controls, and communications only work when the install is right the first time. This role puts a licensed apprentice on active jobs—building, testing, and turning over electrical systems that keep facilities running. You will learn the trade in the field while producing work a journeyman can stand behind.
This role requires an active Electrical Apprentice License for the state of Delaware
Performance Objectives
- Install conduit, cable, devices, and equipment to drawings, specifications, and the National Electrical Code, with punch‑list items closed before turnover.
- Pull, terminate, and label conductors so circuits test correctly and as‑builts match what was built.
- Support high‑and‑low‑voltage work—power distribution, lighting, life safety, controls, and communications—under a licensed electrician’s direction.
- Read one‑line diagrams and floor plans, lay out runs, and bend and support raceway without rework caused by missed elevations or conflicts.
- Keep the work area safe: lockout/tagout, PPE, housekeeping, and daily hazard checks with zero preventable incidents on your tasks.
- Stage material, track what was used, and flag shortages early enough that the crew does not lose a day waiting.
You will work on a field crew led by a journeyman or foreman, on an industrial job site. Jobs span electrical construction, building automation, renewable energy, security and life safety, and data and fiber. Trucks, hand and power tools, test equipment, prints, and material are provided. You report to the site lead; a licensed electrician signs off on your work. Schedules follow the job, including some nights, weekends, and storm or emergency response.
Essential Qualifications
- Current Delaware apprentice electrician license, in good standing, and legal right to work on electrical systems under supervision.
- Working knowledge of basic electrical theory, conduit bending, wire pulling, device installation, and safe use of meters and hand tools.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and follow the NEC on the tasks you are assigned.
- OSHA 10 (construction) or the willingness to complete it before unsupervised site access; comfort with heights, ladders, lifts, and outdoor work.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to jobsites; ability to lift, carry, and work in confined or active construction conditions.
- Clear communication: you ask before you guess, and you report defects, near misses, and incomplete work the same day.
- If an offer is extended, you will be required to consent to a drug screen and background check. We are a drug‑free company.
- Fire Rated clothing is required for this role.
Why This Role
- Real scope, not repetitive residential trim: high voltage, automation, renewables, security, and fiber on the same career path.
- Emergency and restoration work teaches how systems fail—and how to put them back in service.
- A mid‑size specialty contractor where apprentices are on the tools with the people who own the outcome, not lost on a mega‑crew.
